6 interesting facts about the Polish Refugees that came to New Zealand

1. 835 Polish kids and adults immigrated to New Zealand as refugees.
2. The refugees found it troublesome to move to a new country with a foreign language.
3. Prime Minister Peter Fraser had invited the children to New Zealand so that they can survive the war that was going on.
4. Many of the refugees have chosen to stay in New Zealand ever since the war and still tell their stories today.
5. The camp for the Polish children was held in Pahīatua in Wairarapa.
6. The refugee camp was named ‘Little Poland’.
